Citizen's Referendum
Protesters at Hollister City Hall, where the outgoing City Council approved a terrible General Plan (Dec. 6, 2024)
On their last day in office (Dec. 3, 2024) Hollister's outgoing Mayor Casey and City Council majority voted to approve a terrible 2040 General Plan that expands the city's Sphere of Influence by 3,000 acres into the farmlands around Hollister. This plan allows residential subdivisions to be built along Fairview, Union, and Buena Vista roads. Only councilmember Resendiz voted "No".
Several Hollister voters submitted, on Dec. 6, 2024, a Referendum Summary to overturn Mayor Casey & the City Council majority's Resolution to approve the 2040 General Plan. You can read the Summary of their Petition here.
The City Council's Resolution to approve the 2040 General Plan (Resolution 2024-201) can be found here.
