"A Government of the People, By the People, For the People"
As we celebrate July 4th, it's sad to reflect on the loss of America's core values in Hollister. Mayor Casey & City Council keep making decisions that favor Developers instead of the People of Hollister.
Their recent decisions (described below) make them even less accountable to the People.
Silence Voice of Westside Residents
Mayor Casey & City Council plan to censure (silence) & fine councilmember Rolan Resendiz who has vocally opposed their decisions to extend sewer service to more housing developments outside city limits. Resendiz represents Westside residents living near the sewer plant. Councilmember Dolores Morales wants to punish and silence Resendiz because he continues to warn the public about problems with the city's infrastructure, and about the Mayor & City Council's give-aways to developers which cost city taxpayers millions of dollars.
Councilman Rolan Resendiz represents District 2, the Latino, west side of Hollister where the sewer facility is located.
Mayor's Husband Threatens Hollister Guardians
Hollister Guardian, Bella Rosales, says "We will not be Silenced!"
Developers were not In April 2024, Mayor Mia Casey's husband (Jon Casey) sent a threatening letter to the fiscal sponsor of Hollister Guardians, suggesting that he could report them to the IRS if they continue to sponsor the Hollister Guardians. Our attorneys told us that Casey's threat is groundless and that Hollister Guardians can sue Casey for trying to undermine our fiduciary contract with our fiscal sponsor. Casey is also violating our first amendment right of free speech.
As Hollister Guardian, Bella Rosales, has said at a City Council meeting, "We will not be Silenced".

Eliason claims to be an "Independent Journalist" but works with Mia Casey.

Robert Eliason pretends to be an independent journalist when he "Fact Checks" (attacks) the Hollister Guardians in his Benitolink articles and defends Mayor Casey. The fact is, Eliason helped Mia Casey in past campaigns as shown in their campaign texts above. Robert Eliason is hardly an "independent journalist".
