As we celebrate July 4th, it's sad to reflect on the loss of America's core values in Hollister. Mayor Casey & City Council keep making decisions that favor Developers instead of the People of Hollister.
Their recent decisions (below) make them even less accountable to the People.
Raise Donation Limit & Term Limit
Raise Donations from $250 to $5,500
Developers Lee & Anderson with Mayor
On May 6, 2024, Hollister Mayor Mia Casey & City Council majority removed the city's campaign contribution limit of $250 per donor. Now they can accept campaign donations up to $5,500 per donor. Three years ago, the previous City Council set a campaign contribution limit of $250 per donor in order to reduce the influence of special interests.
Now the gates have been opened for a flood of Developer's money.
Raise Mayor's Term 2 Years to 4 Years

The Hollister City Council moved to lengthen the mayor's term from 2 years to 4 years. Twelve years ago, Hollister voters gave the mayor a 2 year term. The City Council wants voters to change the mayoral term to 4 years by putting this on the November 2024 ballot.
A longer term allows the mayor to ignore public opinion and makes the mayor less accountable to the People of Hollister.
